Sermon on Mt Sinai
During his earthly kingdom, Christ traveled with few of his disciples to Mt Sinai. There he made a sermon on the very place Moses had received the torah from God.
Spiritual orphans
"An orphan is not aware of the love and care of its parents. A soul that is not born again in the kingdom of heaven is not aware of the joys within."
Love and fear
"Love thy God while fearing him at the same time with your heart, your mind, your breath, your soul, your spirit. Love your neighbors as if they are your family, because you are all children of God."
Immanence and Transcendence and Long speech against materialistic Pharisees and Sadducees
"God our Father is ever-present, immanent and transcendent. And the kingdom of heaven is all around you, except for those who are destined to perish, because of their wickedness they have lost their souls in love for this world that will never be theirs no matter how hard they strive for it. The world deceives the wicked and the rebellious as it is supposed to, because God does not desire their salvation. They worship the Golden calf still, and they pile up their sins, for the love of the world and its illusions drove them to idolatry. They are from the world and therefore speak from the viewpoint of the world, they know nothing of the eternal kingdom, and they'll never enter it, because it is reserved for those who have faith and do good in love and fear of God. Fear your God as you love him. Neither their silver nor their gold will be able to deliver them on the day of the LORD'S wrath; And all the earth will be devoured In the fire of His jealousy, For He will make a complete end, a terrifying one, of all the inhabitants of the earth."
"Woe to those who worship this world, those who ruin themselves in love for this world, they spend their entire lives chasing it, never gaining anything from it except sins and God's wrath, thus damning themselves in the world to come. They worship gold and money and the material goods of this world instead of worshiping God who has promised them eternal life in the everlasting kingdom of heaven. They have no love or fear of God, and for this world they have lost their faith, and because of them losing their faith, they have also lost their souls. They have grown in their wickedness because they love this world so much. A grain of sand is more precious than their hoarded gold. Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever. Wherever you are, in whatever condition you may be, you can attain God's kingdom, and no material comfort can provide you bliss as much as the comforts of spiritual happiness in his kingdom. The kingdom of heaven belongs to the poor and the downtrodden, those who are humble and meek. Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever."
"For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. They spend their lives chasing the illusion that is this world so they become children of iniquity, thus confirming their damnation, and with the devils they worship they'll stay in hell. Do not be like them. What good is losing your soul for this world? No soul can stop its departure from this transient world, for you are a traveler, and this world not your final destination. Friendship with the world means enmity against God. Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God. This world belongs to no one. It will never be theirs. Nor is Satan the god of this world, because it does not belong to him either. He can only deceive the wicked into worshiping him, because he is a great deceiver, but his deception only beguiles the ignorant, those who desire the pleasures of this world, even though it is God who provides them everything they possess, and God promises them more in the world to come. Again i ask you, What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives. For everyone born of God overcomes the world. For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."
On homes
“Every day is a journey, and the journey itself is home. Be like birds. Wherever they settle is their temporary lodging. And wherever you are is your home. If you’re in the wilderness, that place is your home. If you’re inside a temple, that temple is your home as well as home of my father and your father also. People make permanent homes for themselves even though that place is not their permanent lodging. And they die and their body is put in their graves which becomes their house. And others believe that the deceased is now in his permanent home. However, those graves themselves are not their homes either, because they’ll rise up from their graves on their judgment day.”
On faith
"Faith illuminates the soul. What good is a soul without faith? Quick are the Sadducees in denying the resurrection of the body, because they have lost their souls. Resurrection of a soul happens because of faith. You of little faith, how easily do you deny resurrection? If you had faith, you would not have lost your soul. Dead souls are awakened through faith. It is faith that restores their soul, even after they've lost it, so I give Sadducees and people who are like them hope when they have none. I AM the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die. I am the cornerstone and bread of life." Therefore thus says the Lord GOD, "Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a tested stone, A costly cornerstone for the foundation, firmly placed. He who believes in it will not be disturbed." This precious value, then, is for you who believe; but for those who disbelieve, "THE STONE WHICH THE BUILDERS REJECTED, THIS BECAME THE VERY CORNER stone," and, "A STONE OF STUMBLING AND A ROCK OF OFFENSE"; for they stumble because they are disobedient to the word, and to this doom they were also appointed. And God said to Job, "Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Where were you when i created your soul? Tell Me, if you have understanding, Who set its measurements? Since you know. Or who stretched the line on it? "On what were its bases sunk? Or who laid its cornerstone, and created you out of one soul, my spirit?" Then Jesus said, "Faith is to the soul what life is to the body. Prayer is to faith what breath is to the body. There are many souls that subsist without faith. Those that attain faith then hold onto it are the ones deserving salvation. What is a man that loses his soul and has no faith? That man is worthy of damnation."
